MEISA is now in its 9th year of existence and we are very proud of what we have achieved over this period of time. MEISA has successfully hosted the Sexual Abuse Conference in 2003 and the Second World Congress on Ego State Therapy in 2006. MEISA also hosted the Best of Psychotherapy Congress at Mabula Private Game Lodge as well as the Cape of Good Hope Congress in Cape Town during 2006. MEISA, Eastern Cape successfully hosted the First South African Congress on Trauma: Contemporary Psychotherapeutic Approaches in George during March 2008. We recently also successfully hosted the 3rd World Congress on Ego State Therapy and Ericksonian Psychotherapy during February 2010. Almost 500 delegates attended the congresses at Sun City and Stellenbosch. The feedback we received regarding the congresses was very positive. The South African presenters all got excellent feedback and most of them ended up in the top 20 from a total of 65 presenters!

I am also taking this opportunity to congratulate Mr Callie Hattingh from George with his newly established Institute, The Milton Erickson Institute of George South Africa (MEGSA). As is the case with MEISA Gauteng, Callie will offer a variety of interesting workshops during 2010. Have a look at his interesting website at www.megsa.net All MEGSA workshops and courses have been accredited for CEU’s.
As usual we have planned a very exciting programme for 2010 with many interesting workshops! We have scheduled a few new workshops to enable you to receive brief and in-depth training in various interesting fields of psychotherapy. There is a growing demand for shorter workshops, which are less time consuming and aimed at providing the practitioner with more brief psychotherapeutic intervention skills. All MEISA training courses will be practical workshops with live demonstrations. Our goal is to equip you with the skills you need in your practice. We have selected an array of interesting and very relevant topics for you to choose from. Please have a look at the 2010 programme, select training on the website.
An international committee of ego state therapists formed the Foundation for Ego State Therapy also known as FEST. The purpose of the foundation is to enable you, the therapist, to receive internationally accredited certification and continued training in Ego State Therapy. The relevant documentation will be forwarded within the following weeks. Please make use of this opportunity to apply for certification and recognition of previous training.
We are taking this opportunity to inform you about the newly established Milton Erickson Psychotherapy Society of South Africa (MEPSSA). Yes, this dream has now come true and you can join the Society immediately (see attached registration form)! Pre- and post graduate students are also welcome to join. The main purpose of the Society will be to advance the goals of Psychotherapy and to bring you up to date with the latest theory and techniques in Psychotherapy. The newly elected Board Members are as follows:
