Dear Colleagues
Welcome to the Changing Faces of Psychotherapy Congresses in South Africa. Each congress has great promise as an exceptional opportunity for learning from world renowned experts in the field of psychotherapy. It is rare that so many well known international psychotherapists will visit our country. We have organised exciting and interesting programmes to be presented at Sun City and Stellenbosch in February 2010.
Please note, this is your last chance to register for either congress. Please find the congress announcement, registration and accommodation reservation forms on this site. Please take note of the congress registration deadlines. The price will increase again on the 10th of December 2009.
We are pleased to include the following important information regarding each congress.
Workshops, keynote addresses and panel discussions
We are delighted to inform you that there will be six keynote addresses as well as 76 workshops to choose from at the Sun City Congress, all presented by an array of distinguished national and international faculty members. Also do not miss the opportunity to attend the interesting panel discussions. Additionally, we offer three advanced post congress workshops at Sun City. At the Stellenbosch Congress you will have 4 keynote addresses and 48 workshops to choose from. Three advanced post congress workshops are also scheduled for this congress. The ADVANCED post congress workshops are optional and NOT included in the congress registration fee. Please refer to the congress programmes for the topics.
Kindly take note that one track of the programme will consist of workshops presented in German, catering for the many international delegates we are expecting from Europe. The congress is very popular and we already have close to 300 registrations for the Sun City Congress and 160 registrations for the Stellenbosch Congress. More than 100 congress delegates are from abroad. Many professionals were interested in presenting at each congress, however, we simply could not accommodate more workshops. Due to the popularity of some workshops, and limited space in the congress venues, we have no other option but to institute a reservation system for the workshops. This will be done on a first come first serve basis. Please complete and return the workshop reservation form before 10 December 2009.
Continuing Education Development (CPD)
Each congress has been approved for 10 continuing education units per full day (6 general and 4 ethical points). The main congress at Sun City (3 days) has therefore been approved for 30 CEU’s (18 general and 12 ethical points). The congress at Stellenbosch (2 days) has been approved for 20 CEU’s (12 general and 8 ethical points).
Mindfulness and game (wild animal) drives as kick-offs in the mornings!
Lorraine de Raay and Hannelie Scheffer kindly agreed to start each morning of the congress with Mindfulness exercises in a tranquil environment at the congress venues. Alternatively, those of you who are nature lovers are welcome to join us early in the morning and during late afternoons for a game drive at the Pilanesberg National Game Reserve (wild Animal Park). Sun City kindly agreed to arrange exclusive elephant back safaris and game (wild animal) viewing drives for our delegates. Night drives and hot air balloon safaris are also available. Social programme and surprises .....
Two different choirs, namely the North-West Youth Choir and the Accelerando Girls Choir from Stellenbosch will sing traditional African songs during the opening ceremonies at each congress. We can assure you that these performances are not to be missed and will create a trancelike experience par excellence. Also, do not miss the opportunity to join us for the congress buffet dinner at Sun City with world renowned Elzabé Zietsman performing as the cabaret artist, a piano recital by the internationally acclaimed concert pianist Inette Swart and Nadine Hartman as guest singer. At the Stellenbosch congress you can enjoy a typical Cape of Good Hope cheese and wine party while being entertained by the Cape Ghoema Minstrels. Reservations will be made on a first come first serve basis.
Accommodation
Kindly take note that due to the FIFA World Soccer Cup to be held in South Africa, more than 75% of the rooms allocated for the MEISA congresses are already sold out. To avoid disappointment, please make sure that you make your room reservations immediately. Based on past experience and considering the traffic volume in South Africa, it is advisable to rather stay at the congress venues and avoid unnecessary frustration as well as possibly missing workshops scheduled in the morning. Sponsorships for young professionals and students
We are trying our utmost to make it possible for young professionals and students who are unable to afford the congress registration fees to also attend. Most of these individuals are from previously disadvantaged communities. We already have a list of people who desperately want to attend. We therefore request your support in this endeavour. Your assistance and consideration will be highly appreciated. Please contact us urgently if you are interested in sponsoring these aspiring professionals.
